    Why can’t I transfer to a Naira bank account?
    Central Bank of Nigeria rules mean that payments can only arrive with recipients in USD. As soon as the situation changes, we’ll let you know by email.
    In the meantime, Azimo remains one of the safest and most reliable ways to send money to Nigeria.


    What currencies can I send?
    You can still send money to USD or EUR bank accounts in Nigeria by choosing the SWIFT delivery method on the Azimo website or app.
    Mobile top-up transfers are also available as usual. With mobile top-up you can add credit to your recipient’s local mobile number – the money cannot be withdrawn.


    Does the recipient’s account have to be in USD?
    Central Bank of Nigeria rules mean that your recipient’s account must be held in USD or EUR. We’re also not able to process For Further Credit (FFC) payments.
    If either of these requirements are not met, the receiving bank will usually reject the transfer and return the money to Azimo. This process can take up to four weeks, so it’s important the recipient’s account matches your sending currency (USD/EUR).
    Note, correspondent banks, also known as intermediary banks, may deduct a handling fee from the total amount.

    Please note, receiving banks may charge an additional fee to send or receive a SWIFT transfer. In which case, your transfer amount may vary.
    When your transfer is in progress, correspondent banks, also known as intermediary banks, can deduct a handling fee. The amount depends on the currency, country and bank.

     

    How long until my transfer is delivered?
    SWIFT payments usually take one working day to be delivered
    Please note, transfers may take longer during public holidays.

     

    What are the transfer limits?
    SWIFT:
    Minimum amount: 200 GBP (or equivalent in sending currency)
    Maximum amount: 250,000 GBP (or equivalent in sending currency)
    Some banks have individual limits on how much they can receive, so please double check with them before you send.

     

    What details do I need to send a SWIFT payment?
    You will need your recipient’s SWIFT-BIC code. This code is unique to your recipient’s bank branch, so please ask them before you set-up a transfer.

    Can I transfer money to a company?
    Yes, you can make a SWIFT transfer to company accounts in USD or EUR.
    Please remember to select the correct account type when creating your new recipient.

     

    What if I made a mistake in the details?
    Contact our Customer Support team as soon as possible.
    If the transfer has been sent already with incorrect details, the receiving bank will usually reject the transfer and return the money to Azimo. This process can take up to four weeks.

     

    Can I send a mobile top-up?
    With mobile top-up you can add credit to your recipient’s local mobile number – the money cannot be withdrawn.
    Mobile top-ups are processed within minutes but they can only be sent from the Azimo app, and rates differ slightly from our usual rates.

    To complete a mobile top-up transfer, simply select ‘Mobile top-up’ as your delivery method and enter your recipient’s mobile number.
    Note, the money can be used by the recipient to carry out calls and SMSs – it cannot be transferred to the bank account.

  • Sending money to Nigeria (Cash pick-up)

    How do I set up a transfer?

    You can send a cash pick-up to Nigeria with Azimo in three simple steps. 

    1. Set up a transfer to Nigeria

      • Choose your sending country
      • Choose your receiving currency (USD)
      • Choose your delivery method (cash pick-up)
    2. Enter your recipient’s details

      • Full name (must match the name on their ID)
      • Phone number 
      • Email 

      Your recipient will receive an email with pick-up instructions when the transfer is ready for collection.

      Please check all details are 100% accurate. A One Time Pin (OTP) SMS will be sent to the number provided. Without it, your recipient will not be able to collect their cash at the pick-up location. 

    3. Pay for your transfer 

      Payment methods include:

      • Debit or credit card (Azimo card limit is 12,000 GBP/13,500 EUR)
      • Bank transfer via online banking (not available if you’re sending from Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden or Australia)
      • SOFORT if you’re sending from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy or Netherlands

      Please note that you can only use your own card to pay. If you’re using online banking to pay for your transfer, always send money from an account in your name and remember to include the reference number.

     

    Can I send Naira to Nigeria via cash pick-up?

    No, recent changes to Central Bank of Nigeria rules mean Naira transfers are not available at the moment. As soon as the situation changes, we’ll notify you via email.

    In the meantime, your recipient can collect USD from a Nigerian bank branch in minutes when you send money with Azimo.

     

    How long will it take to process my transfer to Nigeria?

    To process your transfer, we must first receive your payment. Card payments reach our account in minutes whereas bank transfers can take 4 hours in GBP or 2 business days in EUR. 

    Once we’ve received your payment, we will immediately process your transfer and notify you via email and push notification. Cash pick-ups are mostly available in minutes.

     

    Will my recipient be notified when the cash pick-up is available?

    Once the cash is available for collection, we will notify you and your recipient via email. 

    For this reason, please make sure the email you’ve provided is 100% accurate

     

    What will my recipient need to provide for cash pick-up?

    Once we’ve notified you via email that the transfer is available for pick-up, your recipient will need to provide the following at the pick-up location:

    • Matching photo ID (valid forms include national ID, passport, driver’s license or Nigerian Bank Verification Number/BVN)
    • Pick-up reference number (which you and your recipient will receive via email) 
    • One Time Pin/OTP (which they will receive via text message)

    If your recipient hasn’t received their OTP via text message, please check that you’ve entered their phone number correctly. If not, you can contact Azimo customer service to correct it.

    If the number is correct and they still haven't received their OTP, your recipient can ask the bank teller to resend it.

     

    How long does my recipient have to collect a cash pick-up?

    Please instruct your recipient to collect the cash within 60 days. Any longer and the money will be returned to sender.

     

    Can my recipient exchange USD for Naira at the cash pick-up location?

    Currency exchange is not a service Azimo provides. However, if your recipient would like to exchange USD for Naira once they’ve collected the cash, they can inquire at the pick-up location. 

    Please note, not all bank branches will offer a currency exchange service.

     

    Are there limits on how much I can send to Nigeria?

    There are no limits on the number of transfers you can send. However, there are limits on how much you can send in a single transfer:

    Minimum amount: 10 GBP (or currency equivalent)
    Maximum amount: 1000 GBP (or currency equivalent)

    If you need to send high amounts to Nigeria, we may request additional details from you to process the transfer. This is a standard security check, in accordance with the Know Your Customer (KYC) policy, which is used across the EU and UK to ensure the safety of all money transfers.

    You can complete a cash pick-up transfer to the Philippines quickly and easily. All you need to do is:

    Picking-up the the transfer

    Your recipient can pick up the money at any branch of a pick-up partner you selected. In the Philippines, you can choose to pick up the money from: BDO & Palawan Pawnshop, Cebuana, M Lhuillier.

      You’ll be notified when the transfer is available to pick up. Your recipient will need the following:
    • Valid photo ID that shows their full name and matches the details you entered
    • Pick-up reference number that will be provided once you make a transfer

    Your recipient might also need to provide the name of our local partner – BDO Remit – even when picking up via Cebuana or M Lhuillier.

    Sending to a company

    Cash pick-up transfers are not available when sending to a company in the Philippines.

    If you need to transfer to a company, please use “Bank deposit” transfer.

  • Sending money to Bangladesh

    How long will the transfer take?

    If you pay by card and no document verification is required:

    • Cash pick-up transfers to Bangladesh are usually delivered within one hour.
    • Bank transfers to Bangladesh are usually delivered within one working day. 
    • SWIFT transfers are usually delivered within one working day.

    If you pay by bank transfer, we cannot start your Azimo transfer until the money reaches our account. This takes up to one working day in the UK and up to two working days in other European countries. 

    How much can I send in a single transfer?

    The minimum sending amount is 10 GBP or sending currency equivalent. 

    The maximum amount for cash pick-up is 800 GBP or sending currency equivalent. 

    The maximum amount for bank transfers is 5600 GBP or sending currency equivalent. 

    Larger transfers may require additional document verification. This security measure helps us to keep your money safe.

    Which banks in Bangladesh do you send money to?

    We currently send money to all banks in Bangladesh.

    What should I check before sending?

    When sending money to a bank account in Bangladesh, please make sure that:

    • The account is able to receive Taka, or USD/EUR if sending via SWIFT. 
    • The account is not closed/frozen/suspended.
    • There are no restrictions on the amount that the account can receive.

    What are the delivery times?

    To process your transfer, we need to receive your payment first. If you pay with a bank transfer in the UK, it can take up to 1 working day for your payment to reach Azimo’s account. For other European countries, it can take up to 2 workings days. Payments done by card are a much faster option, as they only take a few minutes to reach our account.

    Once we have received your payment, we will immediately process your transfer and notify you via email and push notification. The delivery time will then depend on the delivery method you choose:

    • Direct to bank transfers are usually processed in 2 hours
    • Cash pick-up transfers are available in 1 hour
    • SWIFT transfers are usually delivered within 1 working day

    Please note that it may take longer to process the transfer on the weekend and public holidays.

    Cash pick-up transfers to MCB after 10am (local time in Pakistan) will be available the next working day.

    What are the minimum and maximum amounts per transfer?

    The minimum and maximum amounts vary depending on which delivery method you choose.

    For bank transfers, the minimum sending amount is 10 GBP and the maximum is 3,000 GBP. For Cash pick-up, the maximum amount is 1,500 GBP.

    If you need to send higher amounts to the Philippines, we might request additional details from you to process the transfer. This is a standard security check, in accordance with the Know Your Customer (KYC) policy, which is used across the EU and UK to ensure the safety of all money transfers.

    Do you process transfers to Pakistan during the weekends?

    Cash pick-up transfers can be processed on the weekends in local bank branches that are open.

    Please note that to process your transfer, we need to first receive your payment. If you’d like to send money for Cash pick-up on the weekend, we recommend paying with your card as it only take a few minutes to reach our account.

    If you make a payment with a bank transfer, it might not be available on the weekend since most banks in the UK/Eurozone don’t process payments on weekends.

    Can I make a transfer to a company?

    You can send money to a company account in Pakistan, both with local direct to bank transfers, or with a SWIFT payment to accounts in USD.

    Please remember to select the correct type of account when creating your new recipient on your Azimo account.

    Which banks in Pakistan do you send money to?

    We work with a large amount of local banks in Thailand, including: Allied Bank, HBL, MCB, NBP, Standard Chartered and UBL.

    Important information to note

    When you’re sending money to Pakistan, please make sure of the following:

    • that the account you’re sending to is able to receive Pakistani rupee
    • or USD/EUR if you’re sending with a SWIFT transfer
    • that the account is active and not closed
    • that there are no restrictions on the amount received by your recipient, as some banks may have a limit
  • Sending money to Moldova

    Picking up the the transfer

    Your recipient can pick up the money in:

    EUR: From any branch of Smith & Smith and Victoriabank
    USD: From any branch of Victoriabank, Moldindconbank, Fincombank, Moldova-Agroindbank, Comertbank, Eurocreditbank and Posta Moldovei*

    *When picking up from Posta Moldovei, the USD amount will be converted to Moldovan leu.

    You’ll be notified when the transfer is available for pick-up. Your recipient will need the following:

    • Valid photo ID that shows their full name and matches the details you entered
    • Pick-up reference number that will be provided once you make a transfer
    • Your recipient might also need to provide the name of our local partner:

    You can arrange a direct to bank transfer in a few simple steps:

      If you’re sending to Bancolombia bank:

      • Full name
      • Bank name
      • Account type (saving/checking) 
      • Account number

      The recipient’s name must match the name on their bank account. Banks in Colombia won’t check the account number against the bank account, so please make sure all details are 100% accurate before setting up a money transfer.

      If you’re sending to a bank other than Bancolombia:

      • Full name
      • Bank name
      • Account type (saving/checking) 
      • Account number

    How does my recipient enable international transfers? - Bancolombia bank

    By law, all recipients must complete a form before they can receive international payments. This only needs to be done once, but your recipient must enable international transfers before you set up a transfer. 



        - Bancolombia customers can use an online service called “Abono Automático

    Please remind your recipient to do this through their online banking before you set up a transfer. That way your money will be delivered to Colombia without delay.

    What is a CLABE?

    A CLABE (Clave Bancaria Estandarizada) is an 18 digit number used to identify Mexican bank accounts. Account holders must provide this number for all domestic bank transfers.

    The 18 digits represent the following information:

    1-3: bank

    4-6: branch

    7-17: account number

    18: check digit

    To send money with Azimo, we need just the 11 digit account number (7-17).

    What is the collection process for CHEDRAUI customers? 

    To collect from a Chedraui branch, the recipient must provide:

    • A valid ID (Credencial de Elector) or passport (original and copy) 
    • A Chedraui prepaid card (Tarjeta Dinamica)

    To acquire a Chedraui prepaid card (Tarjeta Dinamica):

    1. Your recipient should request a “Tarjeta Dinamica/prepaid card” at any Chedraui branch. 
    2. To activate the card, they must call the 01-800 number on the back of the car (this phone number should match the one listed in your recipient’s details). 
    3. Once complete, the transaction will be marked as 'Paid.' Your recipient may collect the funds at any Chedraui branch. 

    Note, ‘Paid’ doesn't mean the transaction has been collected by your recipient but that the transfer has been credited to their account (Tarjeta Dinamica).

     

    Can I transfer money to a company?

    Cash pick-up transfers are not available when sending to a company in Mexico. 

    If you need to transfer to a company, please use “SWIFT” (only for USD bank accounts).

SWIFT transfers

  • What is a SWIFT transfer?

    SWIFT transfer is a transfer that is sent via the SWIFT international payment network. With Azimo you can make SWIFT transfers to more than 100 countries around the world, in major currencies including GBP, USD and EUR.

    You’ll need a SWIFT-BIC code as it allows us to identify your recipient’s local bank.

    Important information to note
    • The receiving bank might charge a handling fee to receive a SWIFT transfer
    • Most transfers are delivered within 24 hours
    • The receiving account has to be held in the chosen currency
  • How can I find my recipient’s SWIFT-BIC code?
    A SWIFT-BIC code is unique to your recipient’s bank branch, so in order to find their SWIFT code, please ask your recipient to get it from them and provide it to you.
  • Making a SWIFT transfer

    What are the delivery times?

    SWIFT transfers usually take one working day.

    Please note that it may take longer to process the transfer on public holidays.

     

    What are the minimum and maximum amounts per transfer?

    The minimum amount for a SWIFT transfer is 200 GBP and the maximum amount is 250,000 GBP.

    Please note that some recipient’s banks have a limit set on how much they can receive, so double check with them before sending.

     

    Can I make a transfer to a company?

    Yes, you can make a SWIFT transfer to company accounts in either USD or EUR.
